What is Kevlar?
Kevlar fibres have a unique chemical composition and properties that set them apart from other synthetic fibres.
Kevlar is known for its high mechanical strength and lightness, and is a very heat-resistant polymer.
Reasons to use equipment with Kevlar fibres:
1 - Mechanical resistance
Its resistance is up to 5 times greater than steel per unit weight and its use can be seen in a variety of materials. It is currently used in bulletproof vests and armour.
2 - Thermal resistance
Kevlar usually burns after 8 seconds of exposure to temperatures above 1000 °C;
3 - Cut resistance
Due to the resistant characteristics of the fibre, the Kevlar glove is lightweight and has excellent cut resistance.
4 - Abrasion
Kevlar gloves offer high abrasion resistance, thus increasing comfort, safety, productivity and the useful life of the equipment.
5 - Thermal comfort
Very similar to cotton, Kevlar PPE offers high thermal comfort.
6 - Ergonomic comfort
Because less material is used to make the glove, it is lighter, thus reducing the strain on the upper limbs and preventing muscle fatigue.
7 - Multiple risks
In some working environments with numerous risks associated with cutting and temperature, Kevlar is the ideal solution.
8 - Productivity
Because it is a lighter material, Kevlar gloves generate less muscle fatigue, so employee productivity and agility tend to be higher.
Main areas in which kevlar fibre gloves are used:
Kevlar fibre gloves are recommended for situations in which workers are exposed to extreme temperatures and are liable to burns.
Kevlar gloves are also used in:
ovens;
greenhouses;
bakeries;
foundry;
welding;
plastic injection moulding;
contact with thermal agents (exposure to heat from 48 °C).
