Waterproof clothing is essential to protect yourself from the rain.
In our online store www.norsafe.pt, we have several options of waterproof and breathable clothing for both sexes (men and women).
Colds are largely caused by not wearing this technical clothing, which is essential for those who work outdoors and in the rain.
Waterproofs are a crucial category of personal protective equipment (PPE), but one that is often left in the background, as the priority in PPE is usually to protect areas with vital organs and limbs.
However, workers who spend the day working in the rain are exposed to dangerous conditions. As well as making work more difficult and impairing visibility, rain makes it extremely uncomfortable to continue working throughout the day in drenched clothing.
When choosing appropriate PPE for the rain, we advise you not only to follow the rules that apply to companies, but above all to focus on employee comfort and well-being.
Types of waterproofs
There is an extensive range of rain protection equipment to suit all tastes.
As far as PPE is concerned, we'd like to highlight a few of them:
Waterproof jacket: Most rain jackets are longer than a "normal" jacket and have some specific features such as special flaps that protect the zipper from water, seams that prevent water from entering, etc.
Waterproof cover: Practical and versatile, it offers effective protection against rain as it can be applied over clothing.
Rain pants: This PPE is especially important for professionals who work outside in the rain for long periods.
Unlike trouser fabrics such as denim, which get soaked in the rain, coated waterproof pants keep the wearer dry all day long.
Waterproof parka: The dense, waterproof outer shell and warm inner lining of parkas make them an excellent choice for working in wet winter conditions. Ideally, you should buy a parka that can easily be converted into a waterproof jacket or vest (Raptor 3-in-1 Parka available in our online store).
Waterproofing levels
The waterproofness of workwear depends on its waterproof rating. The higher the rating, the greater its resistance, the longer the fabric will remain dry.
Up to 2,000 mm - Low water resistance (Suitable for very light rain);
2,000 mm-5,000 mm - Medium water resistance (Suitable for moderate rain);
5,000 mm-10,000 mm - High water resistance (Ideal for moderate to heavy rain);
10,000 mm and above - Extreme water resistance (Ideal for very heavy rain);
There are numerous items that are manufactured for different needs, but the vast majority of waterproof workwear falls into the 5,000 mm to 10,000 mm category and is therefore suitable for adverse weather conditions.
